“Good shot!” Recently, at the former Xiakeng Culture Room in Hongqi Village, Huihuan Street, there is always a sound of applause mixed with the sound of children chasing and fighting happily, after sunset. It turns out that Huihuan Street renovated the collapsed area of former Xiakeng Culture Room in Hongqi Village, and built it into a brand-new basketball court, equipped with supporting facilities such as streetlamps and fitness equipment, offering a pretty good place for recreation to the people nearby.
The former Xiakeng Culture Room is close to factories and schools (Sanhua Industrial Park, Weijie Kindergarten and Hongqi Primary School are all in the neighborhood), with large numbers of industrial talents and rental houses gathered, but there is a lack of sports venues. “We originally planned to build a toll parking lot here to increase the collective income of the village,” said Huang Wenbo, Party branch secretary in charge of the grid rental houses in Shuangkeng, Hongqi Village, Huihuan Street. However, while visiting the village and gathering opinions and suggestions of the surrounding villagers and tenants, many of them reflected that there was a lack of venues for leisure and exercise nearby. “It's true that there are numerous young people and tenants in the village, but the basketball courts of nearby primary schools cannot be opened to the public, and we are strongly supportive of building a new sports venue,” said Huang Wenbo. The Party branch in charge of grid rental houses in Shuangkeng, anxious to meet the urgent needs of the masses, formed a joint force in conjunction with Hongqi Village Committee and Xiakeng Village Group to lead the beauty of the countryside with "Party Building Red" and discuss how to satisfy the needs of the masses.
Upon discussion, consultation and site selection, Huihuan Street and Hongqi Village decided that the Village Committee would contribute to transform the collapsed area of the former Xiakeng Culture Room into a basketball court for the convenience of the people and install a number of supporting facilities such as streetlamps and fitness equipment, offering a pretty good place for the surrounding people to enjoy leisure and entertainment.
Although the edge margin at the doorstep does not cover a large area, it is filled with villagers' small blessings. The construction of the sports venue was supported by the surrounding people. During the construction, a lot of local villagers and tenants voluntarily offer to help. When workers drove trucks to bring in construction materials, they helped direct the vehicles in and out and parked them; when the concrete floor was laid, they took time to help water and maintain the floor; in the process of installing basketball stands, young people helped to lift and position them …… The small sports venue is full of neighbors' expectations for a better life.
Now, this basketball court for the convenience of the people has been put into use. Despite its small area, the court soon became a good place for children to romp about, for athletic people to do keep-fit exercises and for neighbors to relax and chat. What's even more heartwarming is that, with a view not to disturb the rest of the surrounding people, the light-off time of the basketball court is set at 9: 30 pm. Every night, when it's time to turn off the lights, all villagers and tenants will consciously end their exercise and turn off the lights, and sometimes the tenants on the first floor of the rental houses next to the court will also come to help turn off the lights. At night, the basketball court, which is usually busy and lively, returns to tranquility once again, waiting for the arrival of the surrounding people the next day.
